Expedition – Kosovo, Albania & Macedonia
It’s hard to find a patch of Europe that hasn’t been overrun by travel. Hard, but not impossible. Among the rocky mountains and green fields of Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia there are plenty of shepherds, monasteries, lakes, valleys and Byzantine churches – what’s lacking is crowds. It’s taken decades for the Balkans to wipe away memories of conflict and communism, but (amazingly) they’ve emerged strong and smiling. From hip cafes in Skopje and the soft shores of Lake Ohrid to the mosques of picture-perfect Prizren, this brand new Intrepid tour showcases Balkan beauty at its very best.

Halloween in Transylvania
Even without its bloodcurdling myths of Dracula, werewolves, haunted castles and gypsy curses, Romania is an atmospheric destination. And no more so on the spooky holiday of Halloween. Let us introduce you to the beauty of ancient Bucharest, the fortified town of Sibiu, the old-world charm of Biertan, the blood, err… wine of Medias, the haunting beauty and mythology of Sighisoara, a local family in Viscri and Bran Castle (aka Dracula’s castle) in Brasov. For a spine-tingling adventure this Halloween, don’t look past this adventure in Transylvania. Mwahahaha.

Expedition – Exploring the Mayan World
In 1946 some Lacandon Maya led archaeologist Giles Healey to the ruins of Bonampak, deep in the jungles of southern Mexico. It turned out to be one of the great discoveries of the 20th century. But Healey wrote of another city, much deeper in the jungle, covered in mysterious frescoes – a city that hasn’t been seen since. Welcome to your mission: an expedition with a native Lacandon guide and local archaeologist to trace Healey’s steps and discover some of the lesser known Mayan sites. Machete your way through the Mexican jungle, raft forgotten rivers, camp beneath the trees and explore some of the finest Maya architecture ever discovered (if you want to bring your Indiana Jones fedora and whip, we won’t hold it against you.)
