Day 1 - Starting: Quito - Cotopaxi & Finishing: Quito - Cotopaxi
Start out early from Quito and journey into the ‘Avenue of the Volcanoes’. Witness the spectacular snow-capped peak of Cotopaxi, the world’s highest active volcano at 5897 metres. Head to the cauldron-like Quilotoa volcano, a broad caldera with a brilliant lake at its centre. En route, you’ll visit the indigenous Kichwa people of Tigua who are renowned for their vibrant art painted on sheepskin canvases.
Day 2 - Starting: Cotopaxi - Quito & Finishing: Cotopaxi - Quito
Head for Cotopaxi National Park this morning and hike around Limpiopungo Lake. Keep an eye and an ear out for the various species of highland birds that make their home at this altitude (3840m). Take in views of the pristine lake, with Cotopaxi looming above.
Day 3 - Starting: Quito & Finishing: Quito
Your Independent Experience ends in Quito this morning after breakfast with a departure transfer to the airport.

Tiguan artists are known for their use of bright colours, intricate detail and traditional materials, using sheepskin for a canvas and chicken feathers for a brush. Paintings usually depict local community life, villagers tending to livestock and, of course, the mighty Cotopaxi volcano nearby.
