Croatia

Did you know that Croatia was inhabited by Neanderthals throughout the prehistoric period? Fossils have been unearthed in northern Croatia, specifically Krapina, the most famous fossil site. Various Neolithic and Chalcolithic cultures were also found in all regions of the country. We thought you might find that fascinating. To add to that The Iron Age also left its mark proving that the ancestors were quite sharp! The landscape is hilly in the north and flat plains spill out over the east which are criss-crossed by major rivers such as the Danube, Europe’s longest river. Lakes change colour from turquoise to luminous green to hues of greyish blues that can be seen near the Adriatic coastline. Whatever your scenic preference is, Croatia has them all.
