Itinerary
Day 1 - Starting: Victoria Falls - Hwange National Park & Finishing: Victoria Falls - Hwange National Park
This Independent Experience begins with a transfer to your lodge in Hwange National Park. A Peregrine representative can meet you at Victoria Falls International Airport or, if you have accommodation booked, at your hotel lobby. Please advise Peregrine no later than 15 days prior to departure where you need to be collected from. Your driver will provide you with some information about your Independent Experience before departing for Hwange National Park. The park became the royal hunting grounds of the Ndebele warrior-king Mzilikazi in the early 19th century and was set aside as a national park in 1929. Today, Hwange is the largest of Zimbabwe’s national parks and boasts a tremendous selection of wildlife with over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species. The elephants of Hwange are world famous, and the park's population is one of the largest in Africa. Your accommodation is Ivory Lodge in the park, set on stilts high in the canopy of the surrounding teak trees to provide exhilarating viewing of the game that gathers at the nearby waterholes.
Day 2 - Starting: Hwange National Park & Finishing: Hwange National Park
Today is a full day of wildlife exploration. You’ll begin with a morning game drive to see the animals at their most active, followed by some time back at the lodge for relaxation during the hottest part of the day. Then, in the late afternoon, you’ll head out again into the park as the wildlife returns to the landscape. The creation of numerous waterholes in Hwange, an area low on water sources and rainfall, has brought a great amount of biodiversity to the park, with opportunities to see the ‘Big Five’ as well as less common creatures such as African Wild Cat, White-Tailed Mongoose and Bat-eared Fox. Along with the big name carnivores, giraffe and plains game, the Kalahari sands of the park are also home to the endangered black rhino and African wild dog, thought to be one of the largest surviving packs in Africa today. Tonight return to the lodge for your final evening and perhaps enjoy a drink as you look out over the private waterholes. Notes: Your game drives within Hwange National Park will be shared game drives. You will be accompanied by other guests of the lodge.
Day 3 - Starting: Hwange National Park - Victoria Falls & Finishing: Hwange National Park - Victoria Falls
After breakfast at the lodge you will be collected at approximately 8am for a transfer back to either Victoria Falls township or Victoria Falls Airport, where your tour will end on arrival at around 12pm (approximately 4 hours drive). Additional accommodation and transfers can be pre-booked (at additional cost) if you would like to extend your stay in Victoria Falls. Notes: Please do not book a flight departing from Victoria Falls before 3pm.
