Not a lot happens in the sleepy seaside town of Inhambane (one of the oldest settlements on Mozambique’s east coast) which is the perfect excuse for you to do nothing at all. Arrive in Barra and laze the day away on white-sand beaches. You can swim, snorkel; have a snooze, go for a stroll and do as much or as little as you like on this relaxing beach break. Enjoy an ice-cold beer at sunset and fall asleep to the sounds of waves lapping against the shore from your cosy beachfront casita. This is a great short break to add to the end of a longer African adventure.

On arrival at Inhambane Airport you will be met by our local representatives.
This shortbreak includes an Airport arrival and departure transfer. Please provide your flight details at the time of booking or a minimum of 15 days before travel.
This shortbreak begins with a 90 minute drive to the lodge. The lodge is nestled between dunes, coastal forest, coconut palms and the warm Indian Ocean which offers great swimming all year round.
Accommodation at the Lodge is in Beach Chalets situated right on the beach. All bedding and mosquito nets are provided.
Lodge facilities include a seafood restaurant, beach bar, and swimming pool.
After settling into your room, perhaps cool off with a dip in the pool or enjoy a sundowner at the beach bar.
Day 2 - Starting: Travessia Beach & Finishing: Travessia Beach
The next 2 days are free for you to explore and relax on your own.
Walk the endless beach which you only have to share with a handful of local fishermen and occasionally the kids of the neighbouring villages. A beach picnic will happily be provided. Find the enormous Baobab hidden in the sea of palm trees surrounding the terrain. Pay a visit to the neighbours for the Sunday soccer match or just to say hello and possibly score an invite to their small but creatively decorated and furnished houses, most of them made of woven palm fronds.
You may want to venture into Inhambane City which is steeped in history. This was the southerly most trading port in Africa used by the Arabs. Vasco Da Gama landed here in 1534. The cathedrals, old colonial Portuguese architecture, African culture and local markets make this a fascinating town to browse around. A number of restaurants in and around Inhambane offer a variety of meal options.
Alternatively, put your feet up, relax by the pool, or enjoy the warm Indian ocean.
